Should You Stick To One Manufacturer When Buying Kitchen Appliances?

Tuesday July 13, 2010

If you are considering revamping your kitchen and installing some new units, you may well be thinking about replacing some or all of your kitchen appliances as well. A lot will depend on your budget and what you need and want of course, but one of the most important things to think about is which manufacturer you should go to. Should you stick to the same one for all the appliances you need?

Some people may decide to do this simply because they like everything to be uniform in their kitchen. One alternative name could make everything look a bit strange. But in most cases like this, there is nothing to be gained by being loyal to one particular manufacturer.

The only advantage that might exist is if you come across a website or store that is selling a package deal. This is where you get two or three appliances – often by the same manufacturer – at a cheaper price than you would pay to get them all individually. If you are happy with the models being offered under such a deal you should definitely go for it because you will save a significant amount of cash for doing so.

But if this kind of package deal isn’t an option it is a better idea to consider all brands and makes when you go out shopping for your new appliances. It could be you have your eye on a particular model for one appliance, while another appliance demands something completely different.

The main thing to remember is the finish rather than the make. For instance you wouldn’t normally have appliances in both stainless steel and white. This could look a little odd unless you have a large kitchen and they are positioned at either end instead of next to each other. You just have to consider how things will look if you buy a particular model. You can then make the best decision for your situation.

In some cases certain makes and models are known to be the top of the range for that particular kitchen appliance. In this situation you can expect to find another good option for another appliance as well. So you might have a Whirlpool appliance in one area and a Bosch appliance elsewhere. Provided the design is such that they do not clash in any way, you can buy whatever suits your needs the best.
